This week I created a Patreon account. At the urging of not one, but two friends for several years, I decided it was time. Patreon is a crowd sourcing platform for artists to share their work. My page will feature my mystical musings, poetry, art, and photography. Patrons then subscribe to the artist to financially support them to continue their art.

As Patreon has the options to show private posts for subscribers only, it also has a public feature. It occurred to me this morning that I could post the same content here on my Blog that I post to the public there. Perhaps that will support my need to share my work with the world besides via the social media channels where I already have profiles – Linkedin, Twitter, Facebook, Yelp, YouTube, Instagram, Tumblr, and Pintrest. Often what I post on one, I do not post on others. The reason I have so many, is that people migrate toward one platform or another. It gives me the chance to touch people I might not be able to.

Often a true artist creates not for the support or approval of others. We create for the sake of creation itself. The movie Babbett's Feast was such  a perfect dramatic explanation of this truth. For me, that is the reason I create. The blessing has been that others appreciate my efforts to bring to life what has not been seen or heard from my perspectives. I am using the plural of perspectives because what is true is we never see or experience the same thing twice.

Enjoy this poetry today, then revisit it years from now, you probably will have a new insight. That might be about how you see the world. Or, it could reflect how you see me. Either or both makes no difference. This truth can be applied to anything. That is the gift of the open mind. It is meant to be free.
